Jadavpur University is the only government university in the country in the QS Sustainability World Ranking

Kolkata, October 27 [ PTI ] Jadavpur University [ JU ] in West Bengal has got the distinction of being the only government university in India to be included in the “QS Sustainability World Ranking-2023”.

A total of 700 institutions are included in this list, out of which 15 are from India.

A JU spokesperson said on Thursday that the rankings are based on stable performance of higher education institutions with a focus on environmental and

social impacts and include parameters such as sustainable education, sustainable research, equity, knowledge sharing and education impact. has been considered.

The spokesman said that Jadavpur University is ranked eighth among the total institutions in India.

IIT Bombay is India’s top institute in this list, while Jawaharlal Nehru University ranks first among Indian universities.

The QS World University Rankings is one of the top international rankings measuring the popularity and performance of universities worldwide.

JU Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das has expressed happiness over the inclusion of the university in this list.

He said, “It is a matter of pride for us. JU has been at the top of the country’s leading universities in several rankings in recent years.

I dedicate this ranking to the faculty, researchers, students and staff. Despite being a state university and not getting much central support, our stakeholders continue to pursue excellence. We have to strive for more success.”
